London City Airport

London City Airport has the highest proportion of business travellers of any major UK airport, attracted by its passenger proposition of quick, convenient check-ins and arrivals. With passenger numbers predicted to double to six and a half million by 2025, the airport has appointed our team as part of a £500m expansion plan to accommodate this increase in passenger numbers and aircraft movements.

As well as being the chosen developer for the terminal fit out, our team has provided invaluable outcomes on several small works projects, in advance of the terminal’s development. Our ongoing partnership is supporting the airport’s phased delivery of works and propelling them towards their masterplan vision.

The Project

Our fit out of London City Airport’s new terminal building will mark a new era for the airport; one that offers their passengers a modern airport experience in contemporary and high-end surroundings. Quadrupling in size to 68,000 sq ft, the terminal’s substantial expansion will deliver the enhanced infrastructure needed to achieve the airport’s growth plans.

Before this development commences, our trusted relationship with the airport has seen us deliver a range of small works projects across the site. Working both airside and non-airside, all our staff and operatives have been security vetted to maintain the protection of the facility. Our works so far include the creation of a new baggage reconciliation facility, service yard, temporary immigration facility, new utilities and baggage transport facilities.

1

Delivering a Vision

To support the airport’s expansion vision and commitment to passenger experience, our fit out of a new immigration facility uses bespoke finishes and a funky theme that reflects life in contemporary London; all achieved within the client’s fixed budget.

2

Transforming Spaces

Within the boundary of two rooms in the main terminal, our team created a new landside baggage reconciliation facility. As well as providing a new seating area, we also created four cubicles with airside boundary specifications that are DfT compliant.

3

Improving Security

New ASIAD compliant anti-terror gates, high-security fences and refurbishments to check-point security facilities and scanners are just some of the solutions we have configured for this high-security site.

4

Upgrading Infrastructure

As well as designing and installing utilities for a new car hire facility and upgrading existing service yard areas, our team has built new infrastructure. The Western Service Yard project included the installation of lighting, power, drainage and landscaping, and the creation of bin storage, car parking facilities, security protection and a new pedestrian route to the airport’s transport links.
