The project began with the demolition of the existing building, before providing retail space at ground level and contemporary residential accommodation over three additional floors. This revitalisation of Sycamore House required our team’s expertise to tackle complex logistics, structural extensions and close liaison with residents, businesses and Chiltern District Council.
As well as building a prime rear courtyard garden, the project involved the creation of a new basement car park to hold 35 resident spaces.
Coherent interfacing with the public played a key role in making sure things ran seamlessly. We ensured all material deliveries and associated vehicles were strictly coordinated with site management and other trades while maintaining a tidy site with clean access roads surrounding it.
We undertook an initial value engineering (VE) exercise without compromising on the potential sale value of the flats. The client instructed us to proceed with the further VE exercise whilst undertaking the demolition, piling, and basement excavations to maintain the end date. Whilst providing a collaborative, reliable approach to all team members, the client’s needs were met.
The site’s location in a busy neighbourhood required extensive residential engagement and planning. Implementing a coordinated delivery strategy, traffic marshals and adhering to traffic management plan ensured we mitigated the risk of delays and disruption.
