ArtPlay Pavilion shortlisted for AJ Architecture Award

ArtPlay Pavilion at Dulwich Picture Gallery has been shortlisted for an AJ Architecture Award in the Cultural Projects (up to £20m) category.

Designed by Carmody Groarke, the pavilion is a dedicated space for children’s creativity, play and learning within the historic grounds of Dulwich Picture Gallery. The project brings together architecture, art, landscape and nature to create a distinctive and welcoming environment where children and families can explore, make and play. Delivered as part of the wider transformation of the Gallery’s grounds, ArtPlay forms part of an ambitious project that also includes the Canteen, Sculpture Garden and a low-carbon energy strategy. Together, these elements create a more accessible and engaging destination while strengthening the Gallery’s relationship with its landscape and supporting its long-term ambitions.

The AJ Architecture Awards recognise outstanding architectural projects across the UK, celebrating design quality, innovation and the contribution projects make to the people and communities who use them.

Being shortlisted in the Cultural Projects category is recognition of the quality and ambition behind ArtPlay, and of the role that well-considered construction and delivery can play in bringing exceptional design to life.
