Royal Albert Hall

Coda Restaurant

For over 150 years, London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall has been host to some of the most famous performers and historic performances in the world. Revered for its elegant architecture and opulent finishes, the venue’s unique design is recognised and admired across the globe.

Located within its historic walls is the Michelin Star Coda Restaurant. With elevated views over the Albert Memorial and Kensington Gardens, the restaurant offers theatre-goers a fine-dining experience. When the restaurant needed a restoration that emulated the quality and refinement of the food it serves, it appointed 8build to deliver.

The Project

Before the transformation could start, the restoration required a complete strip out, which included the existing kitchen and mezzanine plant room.

To achieve the client’s vision of an elegant, opulent dining space, 8build fitted out the restaurant with a full suite of high-end features, including banquette seating, a bespoke bar, hard and soft floor finishes, luxurious drapes, atmospheric lighting and a finely-crafted cloakroom.

1

Flexible Logistics

With the building occupied throughout the project and subject to constantly changing schedules, including the iconic BBC Proms, we undertook thorough logistical planning to ensure a smooth programme of works.

2

Trusted Partnerships

The new bar, banquette seating and air handling units (AHU) had long lead-in times. By working closely with our trusted supply chain, implementing early procurement, and using workshop and sample sign-offs, we were able to mitigate these challenges.

3

Deadline Guaranteed

To limit the disruption to the building’s staff and visitors and to ensure the challenging programme was kept on track and would achieve its fixed end date, we devised an efficient programme of out of hours works.

The Hall is very grateful to the 8build team for an excellent project. We were pleased with the team and everyone involved in the project and would be happy to work with them again.
